October 2019 questions and answers

Brief: OpenHub Digital is not just a website to get information, but a platform where we interact with our audience. I will be sharing with you October 2019 questions and answers.

It’s the start of a new month fresh with new ideas. In everything we do, there should always be room for innovation. I thought I should bring in this fresh new idea where I will share with my audience questions and answers they ask on OpenHub Digital,

I will do my best to always put together this questions and answers on a monthly basis for now. If there’s time, I will give summaries every week and develop them as the month goes. Let’s checkout some questions we answered in October.

October 2019 questions and answers

1. Can I start a business with 50,000fcfa?

This question was asked by Diana and the answer I gave was “Yes, you can start a business with 50,000fcfa ($85 | £67 | €76)”. No amount is too small to start a business – although this may also depend on the type of business you want to start.

There are many business ideas out there which can be started with even a lesser amount. I outlined some of these businesses in “businesses you can start with little or no capital in Cameroon”.

However, if you don’t find what you want, then get in touch with us and we will help you to develop one for you. In fact, there is one business I can share with someone who can start with 50,000frs presently.

You can do it anywhere, anytime at your convenience. You don’t need a fixed spot, even though many people doing it have fixed positions. Check out what you will need to start out this business.

2. What do I need to start a sole proprietorship ‘company”?

Let me just rephrase what Varelle actually wants – what do I need to start a sole-proprietorship in Cameroon? Or what do I need to start a limited liability company in Cameroon?

There is nothing like a sole-proprietorship “company”. A sole-proprietorship is a different legal business structure from a company. You have two types of limited liability companies – private and public limited liability company.

Many in Cameroon confuse or take a sole-proprietor business for a company. This may be because owners of such businesses are allowed to use business names instead of their names. However, you need to add “ETS” in front of the business name.

It should be noted that the business license of a sole-proprietorship is in the name of the owner. Sole-proprietor businesses don’t benefit from limited liability so cannot be called a company. The owners are fully liable for the debts of the business.

You can take a look at what is needed to start a sole-proprietorship in Cameroon. Meanwhile it is also very necessary to understand various business structures that are common in Cameroon.

If you have been facing the problem like Varelle, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. We will help you to choose the best business structure for your start-up. It is very necessary to understand the scope of your business and the best structure to choose.

3. Which should I choose – sole-proprietorship or LLC?

This November 2019 question came from Judith. She wants to know which is better for her business. A sole-proprietorship or a limited liability company? This is to say Judith actually read reasons why you should have your business registered.

Her problem now is choosing what type of business structure to register. To understand better, you will need to know at least what a registered business is and the most common types you can find in Cameroon.

People get confused as to what to choose between a limited liability company and a sole proprietorship. However, it is very necessary for you to know what they are all about. Their pros, cons and other things.

I did something on choosing the right business structure – LLV or Sole proprietorship. I am sure it can be of help to you. Meanwhile we are always at you disposal to help you choose depending on the type of business you want to run.

4. Solution for applicant tracking system

Actually, this came from a company. They needed a recruitment software solution for their company where job applicants can post for vacant positions online. The solution should also make it easy for management to keep track of all applications.

It should also provide for a centralized bank for Cvs and tools such as search, filter, categories, etc. The company actually needed something that is easy-to-use and which they can control everything by themselves.

Recruitment software

OpenHub Digital has a recruitment software that enables you publish job openings, manage, grow and maintain you CV database. You can as well as promote them on social networks like Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, etc.

The nice thing with our recruitment software is that you can brand it with you logo. This is ideal for those who want to run a job placement website. It works great on both mobile and desktops. Easy to use, no training cost and unlimited cloud storage.

WordPress recruitment platform

Meanwhile we can also design you a WordPress platform on a sub-domain where you can post unlimited jobs, have categories, tags and locations. Candidates have the options to choose whether to send their CV by email or create an account, upload their CV and apply on a single click.

You can manage all jobs and all applicants from an easy-to-use back-end. The difference between the two is that one is one-off payment and the other is recurring. With the recruitment software, you can start as low as 10,000fcfa per month.

If you want to start a job placement website as a business, just get in touch with us. This is one of the businesses you can start with very little capital. Get in touch with us for advise.

5. I am interested in integrated agriculture and bio-gas

Why not just “agriculture”? With integrated agriculture or farming, Valentine means a farm management system that has as goal to deliver more sustainable agriculture. What does this mean?

Integrated agriculture

We call it here “mixed farming”. It involves simultaneously carrying out of crop farming, animal husbandry and fisheries. With integrated farming, each farming component supports the other. For instance, the crop can serve as feed or fodder for livestock, while livestock serve as manure for crops.

One of the aim of integrated farming is to reduce external inputs and increase production output. However, it may not only be to increase immediate outputs, but to maintain a healthy system of production over time.

Biogas

Biogas can as well fall within the scope of the integrated agriculture. What is biogas in the first place? It is a type of biofuel naturally produced from organic waste that has been decomposed.

I am sure you get what I mean by it can still fall under integrated farming! This is because biogas is made from organic matter which can be food scraps or animal waste.

The organic matter will be broken down in an anaerobic environment that will help it release gases such as methane and carbon-dioxide. These gases can be used as fuel and are environmentally friendly.
