Many people think registering a business may not be a necessity. However, research has proven that it is very important to register your small business if you really want it to be successful. In other words, your success in business may actually depend on whether your business is registered or not.
There are many small businesses in Cameroon that are operating in the informal sector (not registered). A good number of these informal businesses don’t want to become formal because they are running away from taxes. Others remain in this status because they don’t know the advantages of having their business registered. There are others who don’t register their small business because they don’t know the process or even think it is too complicated.
From the above, you could see that most of these business owners running unregistered businesses do so out of ignorance. Ignorance because they don’t know
- why they have to pay their taxes to the government
- that they spend more in giving bribes to tax agents to cover them. Money which they would have used in paying their taxes
- That it is not difficult to register a business in Cameroon
That’s why we are organizing another session of #KnowYourTaxLaw on April 27, 2019 where we will give participants a rundown of the advantages they have running their own business, the different types of business institutions they can register and what is needed to register each type of business.
Make sure you take the rendezvous for April 27, 2019 with us where we will look at the above and other problems faced by business owners, managers, accountants, etc when it comes to taxation.
