Cameroon Steel has officially launched the construction of a modern steel complex in Mboro, located in the Ocean Division of Kribi. The project, a significant step towards industrialization, attracted high-level government officials to the site on Sunday, December 29, including the Minister of Mines, Industry, and Technological Development (Acting), Professor Fuh Calistus Gentry.
During his visit, Professor Gentry personally assessed the progress of the ongoing preparatory work, marking the importance of this initiative for Cameroon’s industrial growth.
The formal inauguration ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow, December 30, and will be presided over by the Prime Minister, Chief Joseph Dion Ngute, acting as the personal representative of the Head of State, H.E. Paul Biya. The ceremony will also be attended by the Governor of the South Region, the Senior Divisional Officer of the Ocean Division, and key officials from the Ministry of Mines, Industry, and Technological Development (MINMIDT).
A Major Step for Cameroon’s Industrialization
The steel complex, once operational, is expected to boost the local economy, create jobs, and support infrastructural development in Cameroon. It aligns with the government’s industrialization strategy to position the country as a regional hub for steel production.
This initiative also complements efforts to encourage foreign investment and private sector engagement in industries crucial for economic transformation.
